This recipe is a Japanese style fish recipe, that involves fish pieces being lightly coated with spices and corn flour prior to being deep fried. It is a delicious recipe that is surprisingly light to eat, and goes well with a salad and some lightly steamed greens. You can make a similar recipe with chicken (see Karate chicken recipe).
Ingredients:
500g fish fillets
Spices of your choice (such as a pinch of chilli powder, white pepper, turmeric...) and corn flour
Sunflower oil for deep frying
Method:
Put the deep fryer on to heat up the oil, or if manually deep frying then heat up the oil in the pot.
Cut the fish fillets into medium to large bite sized pieces. In a mixing bowl place about 1/2 cup corn flour and add spices as inspired. Mix this thoroughly. Then proceed to coat the fish pieces lightly with corn flour. Mix the corn flour through the fish pieces until the fish looks slightly white, like it has a light coating of cornflour.
Deep fry the pieces till lightly golden brown, drain excess oil off and serve hot with salad and steamed greens, and you can sprinkle some chilli sauce on top to give it a spicy kick.
